Social Media Lead
LGBTQymru is Wales’ only all-Wales, bilingual LGBTQ+ community website which publishes on-line articles about all aspects of LGBTQ+ life in Wales. You can hear more about us and read our articles here.
We are excited to open up our application process for a Social Media Lead to join our team of volunteers.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking to recruit someone who who has the skills to manage our social media channels, engage with and build our audience, and raise awareness of our publications.
The Social Media Lead will be someone who has a passion for contributing to the LGBTQ+ community by being involved in the sharing of people’s stories and bringing greater awareness of the lives of LGBTQ+ people. You must have good written communication skills, attention to detail and good customer service to ensure our public-facing content is professional and in line with our values.
If you have the relevant skills and experience and are happy to be part of a wider team of volunteers to promote our work effectively across our channels, we’d love to hear from you
What’s involved?
In a nutshell:
-
Keeping up-to-date with LGBTQYMRU's campaigns/priorities and suggesting ways to share this online
-
Using online graphic design platforms like Canva to design online content and publishing to all the regular social media channels
-
Showing initiative and thinking of innovative ways to drive online engagement
-
Identifying our target audience and being up-to-date with current trends
-
Creating periodic newsletters based primarily on our published content
Will it take up too much of my spare time?
Not really!
The time commitment is expected to be no more than a couple of hours each month.
In addition to attending regular Editor and Reporter updating meetings which generally last around 30 minutes, we'd like you to develop creative social media content and interventions as you hear the updates on the articles and as we plan their publication.
How do I apply?
So, if you have positive and inclusive LGBTQ+ values in line with ours, want to contribute to the publication of all-Wales LGBTQommunity articles, can develop and create great content for our social media platforms, are happy to work as part of a team as well as under your own steam, we’d love to talk to you.
We aim to get to you within 10 working days from 10 March 2023.
We are diverse group of volunteer Editors and Reporters and we want to reflect the Qommunities with which we connect, support and celebrate. We would therefore be delighted to hear from people from all backgrounds and cultures, our trans* family, and those who have a disability/long-term health condition. Any information you choose to provide about yourself as part of the recruitment process will remain entirely confidential, used for statistical purposes only, and will not be treated as part of your application.
